정약용 (1762~1836)
Jeong Yag-Yong
조선 후기의 문신이자 실학자, 저술가, 시인, 철학자, 과학자입니다.
실학 사상의 토대를 다졌으며 서양의 종교, 과학을 적극적으로 받아 들였습니다. 1791년에는 수원 화성 설계와 건설에 참여하여 거중기(도르래)를 발명하고 이를 활용하였습니다. 천주교에 연루되어 19년간 경상도, 전라도 등지에서 유배를 당하였다. 이 기간에《목민심서》, 《경세유표》 등의 많은 책들을 저술하였습니다.
He is a bureaucrat and pragmatist, writer, poet, philosopher, and scientist in the late Joseon Dynasty.
He laid the foundation for practical thought and actively embraced Western religion and science. In 1791, he participated in the design and construction of Hwaseong Fortress in Suwon, inventing and utilizing Geojunggi (pulley). He was involved in the Catholic case and was exiled in Gyeongsang-do and Jeolla-do for 19 years. During this period, he wrote many books such as 《Mokminsimseo》 and 《Gyeongseyupyo》.
