How to tell the weather in Korean??

We always say about weathers in our daily life. Often, weather can be a good topic for you to break the ice. In this post, we're going to learn basic words related to climates and apply these words to form a sentence.

basic sentences to express climates


-안개가 끼다/끼었다(꼈다)

When you want to say 'It's foggy', you have to use the verb '끼다'. It means the fog exist in the air(it is disturbing in some ways).

'끼다' is a basic form of the verb and '꼈다(끼었다)' is the past tense.

Koreans scarcely use the basic form '안개가 끼다'. When it's foggy, you can just say '안개가 끼었다(꼈다)'.




-가 내리다/내린다/내렸다

When you want to say 'It's raining', you have to use the verb '내리다'. It means the rain is falling from above to the ground.

'내리다' is a basic form of the verb. '내린다' is a present progressive. '내렸다' is a past tense.




-이 내리다/내린다/내렸다

This is the same verb. You can check the explanation at the upper paragragh.





-바람이 불다/분다/불었다

When you want to say 'It's windy', you have to use the verb '불다'.

'불다' is a basic form of the verb. '분다' is a present progressive. '불었다' is a past tense.





-가 쨍쨍하다/햇빛이 쨍쨍하다

When you want to say 'It's sunny', you can use the adjective '쨍쨍한'. It means 'sunny, shine brightly'.

해 is sun but technically, 햇빛 is sunlight ⇒ 햇빛 is a word which is combined by two words : 해(sun) + 빛(light, beam)
